Bullpen Settings

PostWed Nov 29, 2017 9:06 am

I have my relief usage set to normal , closer usage regular. My starters are all set with no boxes checked and no fatigue ratings.

Last night my starter (endurance 9*) is pitching a one-hit shutout through 6 innings. HAL puts in my closer in the top of the 7th with a 2-0 lead. Why?

I don't like using the endurance ratings because, to use this starter as an example, if I set him at F8, he can be getting shelled and not have a chance to come out of the game until the 9th.

Any ideas on how I can get HAL to think like a real manager. ;-)

Actually Jim, Cuellar could reach F8 before the 9th, so using it could be part of your strategy if you so choose.

So, if he is getting chipped away at, a run or two here and there, he could become fatigued before the 9th? I thought it could only happen if he gave up 5 in one inning or 6 in two consecutive innings.

Thanks Andy

2 days later, nearly the EXACT same conditions- two - zip lead, Cuellar pitching a 3 hitter. Top 7. No reliever comes in this time.

Confusing. Why pull him in one game and not another?

HAL, you devil you..... :-)

Rumor:

Cuellar was overheard telling manager Al Lopez in the dugout after the sixth inning, "Skip, if you even THINK about taking me out of this game, I will take a pair of scissors and cut up all the RP's jerseys before my next start. Chris Sale told me that will get me traded right away. I'll make it a ChiSox tradition."
