Who is worse (not who is better because they both stink). In lf clines a 4 e8 or phillips a 3 e18. The loser (winner) will dh. So i just realized clines is a 3 whew. So forget it. But hypothetically what is more important less errors or lower rating?

There is a trade off between range and error rating. A double is pretty much the same as a 2 base error. There is a very old chart that shows the total bases allowed by position showing range rating vs error rating so that you can determine what ratings give up fewer total bases but I don't know where it is on the web at this time.

I put this spreadsheet together as I had the same question over and over again when comparing guys. This does not however take into account the severity of an error as the higher E guys obviously are more prone to the 2 or 3 bag variety. What it does show is a pure OBP vs OUT comparison.

In your example a 3e18 has a OBP/OUT of 52.7/47.3 and a 4e8 has a 61.5/38.5

Anyway, for what its worth...
