How would you set your team up if:

You wanted your everyday LF to move to 1B and a defensive specialist to come into the game in LF?

I think it is list your starting LF as Defensive Sub #1 going to 1b
Defensive Sub #2 should be your guy going into LF

To do a 'DoubleSwitch" like that, do it with spots 1 & 2 or spots 3 & 4. (Not spots 2 & 3)

My knowledge of Strat is woefully inadequate compared to andycummings65 but it seems according to the Game Rules the player coming in should be listed first (1 or 3) and the player already in the game second (2 or 4).

"Then, the player who is (expected to be) in the game already should be listed second, at the position he should move to. The defensive replacement on the bench who you want to come in should be listed first, at his desired position."

Set your first baseman under Hitter Prefs to Rem. 4 def sub. If your left fielder plays first base better than your starter, there is a good chance HAL will make the shift you want. If HAL doesn't do this (it depends on your personnel), then you may be out of luck.

For example, in a 60s league I was in, I set Boswell (2B 3e29) to Rem. 4 def sub. HAL would shift Menke to 2B and put Kubek in at SS, just as I wanted.

Incidentally, requesting changes via Rem. 4 def sub is more reliable than requesting changes on the Team Strategy page. However, HAL might be more creative than you want using Rem. 4 def sub.
