How to find hitters who make productive outs

PostSun Dec 07, 2014 2:50 pm

Aside from visually counting the chances, is there another good method of find hitters with a higher than normal gb(?)C chances? Maybe those who are good in hit & Run situations might be a good place to look?

Actually, it looks like the most gb(?)C chances a player can have is 6 on each side.

Strat is kind of fixed on gb c chances--though in the past gb c were only on pitchers cards, now there are a few on low K hitters cards--and you are right seems to be a max of 6 chances.

I think you should go at it from the reverse perspective, and that is lack of gb a (which are all Double plays with runners on and forced, unless the infield is in)---in other words avoid double plays if you can.

If you can put a fast guy with lots of gb B behind a high ob pct guy, especially slow ones--they get on a fielders choice (which a gb b is with a runner on first) and then steal 2nd--this setup can work with 9 hole slower guys that walk a lot and leadoff guys fairly often on a DH team. Easier said than done however--my teams usually hit into loads of DPs.

That's interesting! I didn't know there were any exceptions. However, I noticed with at least with Gwynn, McGwire, and Belle (I only checked the 90s players) that they have less than six chances on one side of their card.
