Garcia's Blog 6/9/16- Fair Play/Franchise Leagues

PostThu Jun 09, 2016 4:20 pm

Hey guys,

I know I blog about this fairly often but again we have gotten a number of fair play incidents come up recently. A copy of the fair play policy is shown below:

"Fair Play policy

Please be respectful of your league-mates throughout the season so that all may have a pleasant environment in which to play. The following behavior will not be tolerated:

Tanking. You may not intentionally throw games, under any circumstances.
Salary dumping. You may not jettison talent from your team, hold a "fire sale", or otherwise make wholesale changes to your roster that reduces the overall salary value of your team.
Collusion. You may not conspire with another manager, by making trades or by changing your team settings when playing against that team, to achieve any sort of anti-competitive goal, e.g. to help a team win, or to gang up on another team.
Offensive language. You may not communicate with other managers in a manner that they could find offensive.

If you violate any of the above rules, at our discretion, Strat-O-Matic.com will seize control of your team and you will not be eligible for a refund. Repeat offenses will result in a ban from ever playing the game again."

Please know that we do take these violations seriously as they do affect the outcomes of games and can impact who receives prize credits.

Having said that, if we cannot verify that there were bad intentions behind a trade and a poor trade was made, we will likely not overturn that immediately. In these cases where a poor trade is made but there were no ill intentions in the deal, we will usually overturn those deals in cases where the rest of the league votes to have it overturned. These rules are in place to curb intentional cases of worsening your team to affect games.

In addition, we've received a number of e-mails lately where managers refused to cooperate with franchise league or other rules that are specified in the league description. Make sure to read the description of public leagues closely if they have one. If you have any questions on league rules before joining please try reaching out to the league's creator through the forum. You can either private message the creator or just post in the appropriate sub-forum. If you do join a league and find out that the rules were not what you had anticipated, please just adjust to the league rules as necessary. In multiple cases over the past few weeks we have had to completely cancel leagues where owners would not cooperate with league rules and not only do owners get frustrated but this wastes the time of everyone involved.

If you don't want to be constrained by informal league rules designated in the description of the league, auto-leagues are the best way to go. If you want to try other caps and therefore are unable to join an auto-league, make sure to read through the league description so you know what kind of league you are joining. Most leagues don't have any special rules to them but a quick glance at the description will let you know.

That's all I have for today. As always, if anyone has any questions please e-mail us at 365support@strat-o-matic.com. Talk to everyone next week!

-John
