Garcia's Blog 5/5/16- April Lottery/Baseball Daily

PostThu May 05, 2016 5:05 pm

Hey guys,

Unfortunately I'll just have a quick blog today but first I wanted to announce this past month's lottery winners. Congrats to the following five users on winning a free credit to any of our player sets!

Moving on to some Baseball Daily news, we know that there was a problem in the stats feed we were receiving for certain pitchers last week. Once we were alerted to it we were able to notify our stats company and they have corrected that. By Saturday morning all cards were coming over correctly and this should no longer be a problem. If anyone does see something incorrect like that please let us know as soon as you can so we look at any correct any issues that pop up.

A few questions that I have seen come in involve the new injury system limits. While we were able to get limits in for all players with a 1 injury rating, this only applies to new leagues who have started play on April 25th or later. The limits were not applied to any leagues that had begun play before that time. For those leagues, any player can be injured for the maximum amount of time.

In addition, we are still working on the '0' injury display bug. Our system does show these players as a 1 injury so we're not quite sure why they are not displaying as a 1 and are still working on finding the culprit on this. As a reminder, these affected players are those who have an injury on one side of the card but not the other. Although this doesn't happen with regular card sets, these cards need to be computed daily without any manual intervention. That means that you may see oddities such as this one where the computer program ran into an error and was not able to place a certain reading such as an injury. As a new card is created every day, you may see an injury rating missing for one day but go right back on the next.

Similarly, players who are on the 60-Day DL are not showing an injury rating. These are players who we are no longer creating a card for but their card is carried forward every day as they are still in the lineup for some leagues. These players should have a 6 injury rating displayed and we're working on making sure those display correctly as well.

Now that we are further into the season, players with a significant number of AB/IP will have their current season statistics and recent performance (hot/cold) affect their card more significantly. Although their cards have been changing all along, players like Adam Wainwright who have struggled significantly this season have seen their cards deteriorate even further as their 2016 stats have become more of a factor. Same for players who have played really well. We do know that some cards have adjusted at different rates early in the season, we'll be taking a look at that to improve this for next year.

That's all I have for today. If anyone has any questions please e-mail us 365support@strat-o-matic.com. Talk to everyone next week!
