Garcia's Blog 4/14/16- Baseball Daily Media Experts League

PostThu Apr 14, 2016 4:02 pm

Hey guys,

Baseball Daily launched last week and we're very excited for how it's playing out so far!

Trevor Story has made a name for himself in the first week and a half of the actual MLB season and that impact has made it's way to Baseball Daily as well.

Starting out with a pedestrian card, his power has ballooned to become a quality power option in Baseball Daily leagues. You can learn more about how his card has changed so far by going here: http://www.strat-o-matic.com/community/announcements/trevor-storys-baseball-daily-card-transformation.

Just last night Story made even more headlines by tripling twice and his card already reflects that. You can view Story's card for today here.

It was brought to our attention that some pitchers lost either their SP or RP status at various points last week. Guys like Bartolo Colon and Carlos Martinez are two examples of players who changed their status. Thank you to those who e-mailed in about this as we were able to fix this before Monday night's games. No pitchers should lose their SP or RP eligibility. Of course, they still might gain a SP or RP status if they appear in a game that way. This poses another potential problem to minimum "pure" reliever requirements.

So, again starting on Monday, we made a change. We removed the "pure" reliever requirement and changed it to a minimum 5 relievers for every team. These pitchers no longer have to be "pure" relievers, they can be SP/RP as well. All teams in leagues were already at this minimum requirement when we made the change.

Also on Monday, Strat-O-Matic announced that we are hosting a Baseball Daily 'Media Experts' League. Hal Richman will run a team in a league with eleven sports media members and play out a Baseball Daily season using Baseball 365!

All twelve managers have had Strat-O-Matic experience in the past and are currently in the process of filling out their draft cards. League play will begin on Monday, April 25th. Strat-O-Matic will make a $1,000 donation to the winning team’s charity of choice.

Moving on from Baseball Daily, both the Barnstormer's Tournament and the Players Championship have ended recently.

Congrats go out to rburgh for sweeping the finals to take the Barnstormer's Championship! cristano1 led the finals league with 101 regular season wins but fell short against rburgh's team in the finals. Both rburgh and cristano1 played excellent tournaments and each have won tickets to an MLB park to watch their favorite team play ball! A recap of the finals can be found here.

Over in the PC tournament, wjb23 won a thrilling seventh game to take the tournament crown. The 1-0 game was decided in the first inning by a two-out Kirk Nieuwenhuis single. Jack377 was the runner-up. Both of these users have also won tickets to watch an MLB game. You can find this league's scores here.

Congrats again to all four of you guys and especially to rburgh and wjb23 on winning their tournaments!

Want your chance to compete to win MLB tickets? There's still time to sign up for the 2016 versions of these tournaments!

For the Players Championship using the 2015 set, go here!

That's all I have for this week guys. As always, if anyone has any questions please e-mail us at 365support@strat-o-matic.com. Talk to everyone next week!
