Replace Pitch Count Stat w/ Pitcher v. Hitter Card Rolls

PostThu Apr 23, 2015 8:36 am

How about replaceing the pitch count stat that appears in the box score with a pitcher stat that tracks the number of dice rolls that were on the pitchers card vs the number on the hitters card. That way, when your pitcher has a good or bad outing, you can get a better sense of the pitchers performance by the number of rolls on the pitcher card. IMO, the pitch count stat is meaningless

It's not an either/or; SOM can provide both. The pitch count is flawed because of the degree of hits on the hitters cards, but it's hardly useless. Since, generally, the hits on hitters' cards and pitchers' cards will balance out to a certain degree, it is still useful to know if your starters are generally lasting deep into games and/or running up pitch counts too early in their games.
