I think Geoff only has 7 or 8 low priced players carded to his team. Could this be a repeat of the 1974 Padres?

Yes, I have a little more like 10 players - higher priced include Urbina, Merced, and Rondell White

Calling any of those 3 higher priced is a bit of a stretch. All I know is that giving Geoff 15 free agents guarantees that he will set the League record for most players used in a single season

BTO was the opening act for some concert I saw (can't remember who now) in the mid 1980s and they stole the show. I enjoyed them much more than whoever they opened for.

I saw Randy Bachman perform with the Winnipeg symphony Orchestra. A highlight for me was hearing some great stories about how he wrote some of the songs, both from BTO and the Guess Who.

There were multiple stories about writing “Taking Care of Business”.

It’s too voluminous to fully type here or on my iPhone.

Highlights of his stories re Taking Care of Business:

1. When he first started writing taking care of business they were in the process of recording some music already written, and they were recording on NYC. There was a blind music recording technician. He took the 8:15 train or subway into NYC every morning . Randy was chatting with him and put that into the lyrics.

2. Later, while recording in Vancouver , and playing a gig there, he heard a local radio host say “taking care of business “ on air, and liked the sound of it.

3. While in Vancouver , they were Playing a small gig, and broke into the guitar riff and the famous chorus, spontaneously at the gig. Got a huge reaction at the gig!

4. They’re recording the song in Vancouver . Every night they got a pizza delivered , each night by the same delivery guy. Towards the end of their sessions, the pizza guy said, hey, I play piano , and I’ve been listening to you and I worked out a piano part. That same evening, he played and recorded the famous piano track on the song.

5. The producer and (term for the recording director?) loved the Piano track. Big problem - no-one knew the guys name or other details so they couldn’t include the piano track without giving the guy credit on the album!

6. They had to go back to Vancouver to track down the pizza delivery guy to get his info to give him credit on the album. They did, and the piano track might be one of the most famous piano tracks in rock history.
