If we complete a trade during the season that the prior team was planning to release, do we have the option of making a contract extension to the player?

Hmm, let me see if I understand this. If I cut Luis Brinson as a an Arb 1 player for 2021, could you trade for him in 2020 and then offer an extension in 2021? That is an interesting question. The problem is that I have already listed "FA" in the 2021 column for all players who have been cut. It would be a book keeping nightmare for me. I'm inclined to say no, since the book keeping challenge makes my head hurt.
