Phil, I haven't checked other people's rosters but there are some errors with mine. I think you underestimated my true salary cap hit.

I think you forgot to apply salary minimums for arbitration eligible players, as one potential error.

For example, Jon Gray was offered arb3. His minimum salary should be $4 by rule, rather than the .90 cent card value. That's my understanding anyway. I think there are similar additional errors -- Mallex Smith should receive the min arb2 salary of $3M rather than 500k.

I have several players in that boat. By my calculations my salary cap hit should be slightly above $136M not the $127 M that you have listed. Still below the cap value so no penalty incurred, but less space for add ons etc. I suspect similar errors are present with the other teams' calculations too.

That's the way the original arbitration rule worked. The rule was changed and now players in arbitration are paid whatever their SOM card comes in at. Jon Gray's salary for 2020 is $900,000. The only time the minimums are applied to player in arbitration is if he doesn't receive a SOM card for that year.

Section 9.11 ARBITRATION: A player with an expiring contract who has more than 3 years and up to 6 years of service time qualifies for arbitration if the owner declines to release the player, offer a contract extension, or to renew the player at the Major League Minimum Salary. If the owner chooses arbitration the player will be renewed at the salary established for his SOMO card price for the following season. If the player does not have a SOM card to settle the arbitration decision, the player is awarded the league minimum salary based on years of service (i.e. $2 mil for arb1, $3 mil for arb 2, etc). The owner must decline to offer a contract extension prior to the release of the SOM card set for the upcoming season or the player will be automatically renewed for one year at their qualified major league minimum salary as determined in Sections 9.05 and 9.06 above.
