I'll ask for a 12 random number sequence for the AL draft. The first number on random generator will be Evan's, then toshiro, etc. Remember, the order of the NL draft, which will start after the first round of the AL draft, is the exact opposite of the AL draft.

TSL Rules

LEAGUE SETUP

Twelve managers.
1. Each manager will draft an AL team and an NL team.
2. Both Leagues are unleashed, 100 mil, and no DH in the NL league.
3. We will start with the current 2019 unleashed set.
4. Three seasons. An AL season an NL season and a combined season, which consists of any 28-player combination from your AL and NL teams and a 140-mil salary cap. We will play the AL season first, then the NL, then lastly, the combined teams.

INITIAL DRAFT

1. To be determined by random number lottery. The AL 32- round draft will begin first; the NL 32 round draft will begin after the 1st round of the AL draft- just to be sure everyone is checked in. The draft order for the NL will be the exact opposite of the AL order. This will prevent a potentially weird event- the same manager getting the first (or last) pick in both drafts. We’ll start as soon as we fill.
2. The stadiums will be selected in the 32nd round (see above) and are permanent. You draft a stadium- that’s where you play every year.

ANNUAL FREE AGENT DRAFTS

1. Drops are due one week after the cards are released.
2. No minimum or maximum number of dropped players required.

SPECIAL RULES CONCERNING COMPENSATION PICKS

The problem with AL/NL leagues is losing your best players due to the MLB (real teams) trading a star player from one league to the other or a star player becomes a free agent. Anthony Rendon, Mookie Betts, and in the past few years Manny Machado, Gerrit Cole, Sonny Gray, Z. Greinke, M. Stanton, etc. In keeper leagues it is not uncommon to lose 3-4 players due to real team trading and free agency. In the event this happens owners will receive compensation picks in the following way.

If a team loses a player ranked in the top 100 MLB players according to the ESPN top 100 player list (ESPN puts out this list every spring- this year they put it out March 10th) the compensation rule is:
A team losing a player/s in the top 20 ranking gets a 1st round compensation pick, wherever that team is picking in that round, i.e. 7th pick means the team gets a 7th pick and a 7a pick.
A team losing a player/s in the top 21- 49 ranking gets a 2nd round compensation pick.
In the 50 to 100, a 3rd round compensation pick.
If a team should lose more than one player in the top 100, they would also get a “b” pick in the corresponding round.
A lost player beyond the 100th ranking gets a 5th round compensation pick ONLY if it is the team’s only compensation pick. I In other words, if the team has taken advantage of an earlier compensation pick, they may NOT use the 5th round option. In addition, only one 5th round compensation pick allowed. The player's value must be 1.5 mil or over in order to receive a 5th round compensation pick.
The compensation picks will probably not make up for the loss (knowing that the free agent market will likely be thin)- it still keeps the team from being at a mild to severe disadvantage and it will help at not losing owners due to getting their team decimated.

RULES CONCERNING DRAFTS

1. There is no prospect draft. Any player signed by a MLB team is eligible for the draft. Prospects can be drafted at any time during the draft.
2. There is no supplemental draft. This will put more players in play for the following year.
3. Draft position is determined by lottery and position. Each year the bottom six teams will be in a lottery for the first six FA picks. The next six draft positions 7 through 12 by team records
(combined league not included). Ties broken by run differential. This prevents tanking to get first pick. This is important in this league because, let’s say, Trout is traded from the AL to the NL. NL teams might want to get that first pick in next year’s draft, since the difference between that pick and the next…
4. Annual drafts are non-serpentine.
5. All teams must be at 32 players upon completion of draft.

ROSTERS

1. Each AL and NL team will carry a 32-player roster. In the event a transaction sends a roster above the 32-player limit, the team must release as many players as necessary to reach the 32-player level. However, if a team goes below the 32-player roster, the owner must wait until the annual draft or subsequent trade to reach the 32-player limit.
2. The combined AL/NL team roster is 28. The roster is locked at 28 and no free agent pick-ups from your AL/NL teams are allowed.
3. Active rosters are subject only to SOM requirements.

GENERAL RULES

The nicknames of the AL and NL teams will be your choice of a year (two digits) and a valid MLB team name. For example, for an AL team, you might use ‘28 Yankees or ‘34 Tigers. NL- ‘08 Pirates, etc. For location- your choice- doesn’t have to be the city of the team. Example: Key West ‘35 Cubs. You can use years from 1903 to 2019. There is no difference between the 1906 and 2006 Cubs- both would be ’06 Cubs- that’s ok. Why do this? Something different and interesting. You will declare the team name in the 32nd round of the draft along with your 32nd pick and your stadium (stadiums must be unique). 32nd round= pick, stadium and team name. The combined AL/NL team name is your choice,
All team names are permanent. That’s the name of your franchise. Exception: replacement owners may choose names and stadiums.

1. Trading is allowed only within leagues, not across leagues.
2. Trading draft picks allowed.
3. Rule interpretation and questions decided by commissioner.
4. Rule changes decided by majority vote.
5. Divisional assignments for the AL and NL leagues are random the first year. Divisional assignments for the combined AL/NL league are random every year. Subsequent divisional assignments for AL and NL leagues will be determined by W-L records (ties broken by run differential). Best four records in East, next four in Central and next four in West.
6. All transactions must be posted on the league thread.
7. The league commissioner will maintain a record of all transactions.

I will keep track of drafts, draft order, transactions, notices, email correspondence, lists, questions, etc.
If someone could initially set up the google doc roster sheet when we are ready, as I have (unbelievably, I know) never done one, that would be great.

Should we do each of the AL & NL drafts in their own ILC thread to limit confusion?
