How you do have money for Dawson, Guerrero and Fisk?

And now Will Clark. That is like 25 million dollars worth of free agents. No wonder you are the manager of the year. Do you actually own all of Canada?

How about Bill and the Phillies? Ozzie, Doran, Davis, Coleman, and now Hrbek.

I wish!!! If only I could apply myself to my own life!!!

Just for everyone to have a laugh, seriously , I am going to finish the draft by selecting Andy Van Slyke , and I’m going to start the season with just $10,000 less than $10 million in the bank.

My starting pitchers have a combined salary or less than $8 million to start the season. I estimated that only 2 of those 5 will finish the season in the majors. The starting rotation on opening day will be Sorensen, Youmans , Lea , Tibbs and Heaton. Other than Youmans, It’s like having a rotation of Pastore’s.

My main potential weakness as the season progresses could be my bullpen. I have Campbell as a franchise player but obviously I lost Reardon. Having great cards from Burke and Reardon in the same season (1986) and having back to back seasons with Burke’s best card was good luck beyond any reasonable expectation for 1 decade.

Just to be more clear, although this tickles my funny bone, I am doing this as part of an optimal strategy.

As I posted earlier, in the 1990 season the Yankees have 20 franchise players with a salary of only 27M. There is no way I will come close to an 80M team salary even picking the highest salary players every round. That season is going to be brutal.
