We haven't talked much about the waiver rule. If it was Phil's intention to model the waiver rule after the one in MLB regarding waiving a player for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release, than Alvarez would have cleared waivers after last year's FA period and would be a free agent now with me still on the hook for his current contract. That's how it would work in real life at least. Phil can clarify that. But even if he says that Alvarez is still on waivers there is still the waiver priority thing . The rule says that priority for signing waived players is in the same order as the last prospect draft. Not trying to pick on you madal, I'm happy to not have Alvarez on my payroll. Just want to know how waivers is supposed to work going forward.

I knew this would be an issue, so I don't feel picked on. I also tried to bring this issue up a long time ago, but was ignored. But hell, he's been on waivers for 50 weeks. At some point, it seems to me, priority has to be lost and the contract becomes first come, first served. I believe it's well past the point of priority having precedence.

Agree with Old: we haven’t discussed waivers much but the rules establish a priority claim order, so we need to establish a time and structure for that process to be run rather than just allow teams to jump in and assume others have passed on players.
