Ahhh the dreaded ratings!

Once again, just like in past seasons, I had the Pylons functioning well and had climbed back to .500 at the times the ratings were posted. Then we found out that we were the luckiest team in the worst division. Since then: 3-9.

Ignorance is bliss, (or at least allows a team to play better baseball).

If a guy goes down--he can't be hurt again till he comes off the injury list--so this tends to drive injury games down some overall--the effect gets larger the higher the injury rating---there was a whole big article about that a few years ago when I asked about injuries--Clowntime provided some nice math down the post..

Hi Milleram, Yeah, I think that's what I'm doing, but I'm going to doublecheck since you've posted the link again..

Jeep getting 76% of you IP from your four starters and only using 3 RPs isn't a usual way to see pitcher's used. I'd say it's an outlier. Now, that doesn't mean it's a bad idea. I'm going to be curious to see if your pitching, especially your RPs take a hit as the season goes on. I know SOM tried to fix the "super reliever" issue and other overuse issues awhile back. Not sure they actually did however. ;)

Dale, your fielding was better than Milleram's. but now, it's all the way up to 309, second best! Well, basically tied with Semper and KLX.

Miller, I don't think your team sucks but your D isn't helping it. D is a highly variable impact. I would suggest it is hitting you harder than normal. I'll have to run that comparison here soon.

Falcon - Sorry man.

Stones, Uh, let's see. Your HR difference is extreme. In fact, after looking it over, you should be -1, not +1. Your Errors haven't cost you much, but those missed HRs are brutal.

Here are some updates for the mistake I made on the KLX Team:

Code: Select all
Team...   O...   P...   F..   P+F.   Ovrl   Div
Jeep...   7699   4476   394   4870   2829   W
SemperG   7919   5006   310   5316   2603   W
KLX....   7590   4874   301   5175   2415   C
Millerm   8022   4938   706   5644   2377   C
Dale...   7640   4611   652   5263   2376   E
JoeTJet   7709   4873   493   5366   2343   C
Stoney.   7448   4650   540   5190   2258   W
BigAlrc   7244   4912   111   5023   2221   E
Doug...   8021   5211   600   5810   2211   C
Spider.   7505   4971   349   5320   2185   E
Falcon.   7934   5209   576   5785   2148   E
Smokey.   7780   5093   619   5712   2068   W

He dropped about 200 points in ratings more into a tie with Miller, Dale (before the moves) and JTJ. Hitting dropped a lot also, he's down to 8th, but Pitching/D stayed about the same.

Fielding comparison

Doug is really the only outlier here. That's not surprising given his p/f overperformance.

You could say that Spider has done a little better and Jeep, Falcon a little less than expected, but these guys are pretty close so...

Code: Select all
Fieldng   FRt   Rtg   F%   Dif
BigAlrc   111   1   2   -1   E
KLX....   301   4   2   2   C
SemperG   310   4   5   -1   W
Spider.   349   5   3   2   E
Jeep...   394   5   7   -2   W
JoeTJet   493   7   7   0   C
Stoney.   540   8   7   1   W
Falcon.   576   8   10   -2   E
Doug...   600   8   4   4   C
Smokey.   619   8   7   1   W
Dale...   652   9   10   -1   E
Millerm   706   10   12   -2   C

Well, we've been making a little run here, although it's probably too little too late, but we just can't keep my guys on the field. I figured it out tonight. After Buehler's injury ends, we will have had our entire roster for only 55% of our games. And, our guys only missed 2 of the first 19 so, starting with game 20, it's been 50/50.  Also, this includes, what will be, four starts from a .62 SP (Ramirez) in the injury role.

The team is probably a borderline playoff team anyway, but between the one run losses (-12) and the injuries, not to mention getting crushed in bphr rolls, it's tough to overcome.

We still have enough games to get back in the race in our division, but we're going to have to get some die rolls. :? :|

Probably the unluckiest team I've ever had. There's no way this team should be the worst team in the league, but there it is. We just stink. :(

Oh well, may as well just tank and get the first pick in NLD53 next year.

Blah

(btw, we won't actually tank)

There are five teams in the running for worst team--don't count yourself worst yet--Stoney can claim unluckiest of those five from a run differential perspective.

I dump 5M in salary and start playing about .500 since about game 112--which probably says I made poor choices to start with :?

Yeah, I see that it's a close race for last!

I have to say, that this team just pisses me off. BPHRs against us are at 41%, we're getting them at 25%.  That, on top of the injuries are just going to kill you. We've played about 50% of our games since game 19 with the entire roster. Die rolls haven't helped us and, we are -12 in one run games, no one else is worse than -3. In fact, if you add up the rest of the teams that are negative it comes to -10. Pathetic luck. Oh, and we're -8 in extras. Now, *some* of those turned out to be one run games, but many did not. So, there's another 4-5 games that are, essentially, one run games.

Reclaimed the Division lead, but lost Rendon for multiple series at (obviously) a most inopportune time.
