The first two rounds are in the books....... in a tough 5 game series the Knights defeated Mud Monkeys (104-58) 3-2 and than disposed of the mighty Astartes (100-62) 4-0 in a big sweep. On to the league Championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manager: Steve Garvey had this to day after last nights defeat,

To: All
From: Adeptus Astartes (padrenurgle1)
Date: Saturday, 12/16/2017 2:13am

Really don't know what to say about that...swept in 4 straight. By all measures, we had a better offense and better pitching than the Black Knights during the season, but they obliterated us. We scored 8 runs in the series

A weak end to a stellar season for the Adeptus Astartes.

Good luck in the World Series!

The Black Knights(97-65) are the 2008 Champions capturing the award in 6 games over Swampers(93-69).Baltimore brought 4 runs across the plate in the 6th inning when they had 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Ryan Braun, who excited the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 5th of the season). Despite losing, Muscle Shoals out-hit Baltimore 9 to 6.Jeff Bennett(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Bennett got relief help from Kerry Wood who gained credit for his 5th save. Jeremy Guthrie(1-2) took the loss. He allowed 3 runs and 3 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings.
At Camden Yards '08 over 49,000 thousand fans saw home town hero Ryan Braun (.322/5/15) named MVP.After back to back divisional championships it's the Knights 1st World series as the league plays from 2007-2017.

Re: Black Knights 2007-2017 2008 Champions

PostTue Apr 10, 2018 12:25 am

The 2009 season ended for the Black Knights following a 7 game semi finals loss against the SWAMPERS.It was the second time in 3 years the two teams met with the Knights wining the Championship in 6 games over the Swampers last year.It will be a year with an astrick (*)....Our league ran into a glich in "HAL" and the semifinals was not what the league final standings dictated who should play who.

The following is a letter of protest send to "HAL" in care of STRAT

Wud like to lodge a protest of play off opponents in THOSE WERE THE Days 2007-2018

I won my division and rules say that all wild cards shall be seeded lower than divisional winners. Therefore THe SWampers are the team with the best record(103 wins)..#2 seed are the Long run (102 wins), as a divisional winner i claim # 3 seed as a divisional winner over the Surfer Dudes who were a wildcard.Play-offs according to the rules should be Swampers (#1) vs #4 Surfer Dudes .......#2 Seed (Long Run ,102 wins) vs #3 seed me Knights.

24-team leagues - Semi-Finals:
The 4 winners of the Quarter-Finals matchups advance to the Semi-Finals. They will be re-seeded by win-loss record, with all Wild Card teams always seeded below all Division Winners. The Semi-Finals matchups will be Seed 1 vs. Seed 4, and Seed 2 vs. Seed 3. The better Seed has home-field advantage in each series.

I would like Stromatic to change this as according to these rules ..the current match ups are wrong

Paul

REPLY from STRAT-O-Matic

Thanks for letting us know about this. Unfortunately due to the holiday on Friday this was not seen until today. At this point we are unable to revert the league back to before the SemiFinals began. However we have now corrected the bug that caused this to come up. While this league will have to play out as is, we have awarded a credit to the teams still involved in the playoffs for the matchup problem that occurred to them.

Sincerely,

The Black Knights look forward to 2010 and their 4th Divisional title in a row and a chance to be in the playoffs again. As the season ended the Knights pulled off a trade with their arch rivals (Swampers) acquired star SP C.C.Sabathia for draft picks and CL Kerry Wood. CC will join starting pitchers:Lincuem/Lilly/Johan Santana and Tim Stauffer for 2010 Knights starting rotation.

The 2010 season is in the books and the Knights(98-64) have claimed their 4th straight Divisional Title in "THOSE WERE THE DAYS LEAGUE".Manager Earl Weaver Sr. was overcome with joy,"I thought last year was tough ..4 straight titles ...says a lot about the players on this team."New addition SP CC Sabathia(22-9,3.79) lead the team in victories while DH Pat Burrell (.296/45/114) with a OBP (.388) and SLG:(.661) claimed top batter.Rookie of the year went to 1B/DH Garrett Jones(.322/7/17).Team captain Ryan Braun (.308/33/118)had another outstanding season in leading the team into the play-offs.
The Divisional Champions of the East open the at home against the Commish's Great Ball of Fire coming off a great season with the 3rd best record in the league(103-59).The Fire are lead by 20 game winners,Felix Hernandez (24-12,3.32) and Clayton Kershaw (20-11,3.34) and "WHY AM I NOT MVP" DONNIE MURPHY (.294/40/107) with 75 DOUBLES!!!!.Earley reports from Manager Terry Cochran has Kershaw opening Game # 1 against another Lefty CC Sabathia (22-9,3.39).In Game #2 The Knights Tim Stauffer(16-10,3.39)will get the ball against Hernandez .

Manager Earl Weaver was all smiles after the team had their final workout before tomorrows games and everyone is healthy as the Knights released their line-up for game one:
# Name Pos BA OBP SLG
1 Gwynn Jr., T. (L) CF .222 .286 .333
2 Markakis, N. (L) RF .253 .337 .398
3 Braun, R. (R) LF .306 .362 .564
4 Howard, R. (L) 1B .281 .345 .509
5 Burrell, P. (R) DH .314 .407 .703
6 Prado, M. (R) 2B .304 .359 .484
7 Inge, B. (R) 3B .229 .335 .335
8 Rodriguez, I. (R) C .253 .288 .358
9 Scutaro, M. (R) SS .229 .274 .330

The 2 teams have played 6 games against each in the regular season, both teams going 3-3.

At last night's team awards banquet SP CC Sabathia won the Best pitcher while DH Pat Burrell(.296/45/114) was chosen as the top batter for the Knights.First baseman and DH Garrett Jones(.322/7/17) was named ROY.

Management would like to remind all fans to arrive early and take part in the raising of the teams 4th divisional flag.ALL fans attending the game will receive the 2010 Team Photo in a beautiful 4 in a row frame with each side numbered 1/2/3/4.

GOOD LUck to all teams in the playoffs!!!!!!! GO KNIGHTS GO!!!!!!!!!

Black Knights SP Ted Lilly allowed no hits over 6 innings and the bullpen allowed just 1 over the final 3 innings as the Knights knocked out Balls of Fire 13-0 in front of 49,588 Fans at National Park in game 4."We really need that extra day off ,"Lilly said after a strong performance."Our team really came through in Game #3 as Lincecum held on to a 4-3 win striking out 10 BOF's ,so all i had to do was rely on my stuff and let the guys swing away."

Balls of fire becomes another victim of the 100 win curse in this leagues playoffs over the years."They got a good team over there and im sure they will be back next year ," Said Manager Earl Weaver."We just got better pitching and hitting in this short 5 game series."The Knights out scored BOF 26-10 in the 4 games. The Knights will have to wait till tomorrow night to see who they will be facing in the semi-finals.

KNIGHTS LOSE SEMI_FINALS 4-0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a few days off to reflect on the season Manager Earl Weaver Sr.meet with the press today before heading off with the scouting staff to prepare for the 2011 season." The Bullpen exploded in the first 2 games and the hitters went on vacation the last 2 games......so here we are planning on next season."Im disappointed, but with most of the team returning we will try for our 5th straight divisional title or at least make the wildcard and go from there."

On paper the Knights look competitive from the hitting side of things...pitching will be just good enough to give this team a chance, but the way teams are building that might not be good enough."We will know better after the draft and head into spring training."

GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS IN THE FINALS!!!!!!!!
