Being that this is a 24 team league it takes away from the next year free agent draft.

3 rounds just way too much.

I like two picks myself. three is okay but one is too low IMO.

Even 2 rounds is better

my concern with getting this trading thing right is that someone (fred) could accumulate a lot of early picks, thus his draft of 10 players would be over by the 6th or 7th round. should he then be allowed to trade a 10th rd pick (now) knowing he will never get to that pick as he will have filled his roster by rd 7 or so.....

You just hit on the question in a very probable contructed scenario. What's the answer though? I'm good either way.

rule 13 says

13) You cannot trade draft picks you do not own. for example: If you acquired thru trades a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick and traded away your 7th and 9th pick you must cut at least 12 players so that you have the 9th round pick you have traded.
(my math says it's 11 not 12)

Thus you can trade what you want now, but when the draft comes you must cover that highest pick.

Currently you have traded away your 4th, 5th, 6th, and 10th picks in the 2019 FA Draft and you have received picks in the 8th, 8th, 4th, 4th, and 3rd rounds. so not a big issue currently (you've traded 4 picks and acquired 5)

so you've acquired 1 extra pick (like the example) at this time you'd have to drop 11 guys next year....see next post

as of right now, fred would have picks in rounds 1,2,3,4,4,7,8,8,8,9 (that's 10 picks) so to cover that 10th round pick he'd need to drop 11 guys and then take his last man in round 11.

It may work in the scenario, personally I can see situations where it will simply not work depending on how many picks a guy has acquired/traded. Just my 2 cents.

To be safe never ever include a pick going back to a guy in which you acquire a pick.

So for example if I trade someone a player for a first round pick there is no way I should include my 10th round pick going back to the other manager.

Also takes away the benefit of trading for pick up grades.

I’m ok with however it’s decided (for now), but everyone needs to be fully aware how it plays out, so they are not in a situation where they only want to drop 10 players and are now forced to drop 15.

yep.... in 3 years this is the biggest amount of draft picks a guys has traded/acquired. and oddly enough it's not to load up on picks, he mainly traded away early picks and got later picks (which is different). Then the 10th rd pick trade happened and the question arose.

I see 1, 2, 3, 3 (via Terry trade), 4 (via heekin), 4 (rosco), 7, 8, 8 (hveed), 8 (victor). That's my fiurst ten picks.

you are correct, missed a 3....you have a 1,2,3,3,4,4,7,8,8,8, as your first 10 picks. To make this easy, why don't you just change the 10th rd pick you traded to Rosco for a 9. Then you would have to drop 11 guys and have picks in 1,2,3,3,4,4,7,8,8,8,10

as it stands now you'd have to cover the 9th and 10th picks. So just trade him the 9th and it's easier.

otherwise you'd have to drop 12 guys and draft in rds 1,2,3,3,4,4,7,8,8,8,9,11
