This is a keeper, so I hope everyone plans on being around for more than 1 or 2 years. Another is the divisional alignment. The way the rule reads is that after the first seasons start, the divisions are: the best four records are in one division, the next best are in a division and the worst four are in a division. The problem is that the 3rd and 4th best teams are often left out of the playoffs and the 9th or 10th best teams would be in the playoffs, i.e. winner of the division with the 9th through the 12th best teams. Just a vote for random divisions each season.

Not that I'm in the league, but as someone who helped write alot of these rules, the reason it was set up that way was so there would be a change in the playoffs from season to season within one card set. Having the 4 playoff teams from season one all be in the same division in season 2 guarantees that at least 2 of the playoff teams will be different from season to season therefore giving some of the weaker teams a playoff shot and hopefully keeping their interest in season 2.

Not that you need to keep it that way, just giving the rationale for why the rules were written the way they were. I've always felt the biggest problem facing a keeper is maintaining interest for the teams not doing as well, so by allowing for those teams to see a pontential reward by way of possibly making the playoffs, the realignment hopefully keeps interest through the second season and will also cut down on inactive owners and/or drop outs.

Just my 2 cents. ;)

Good luck with the league.

I'm in a keeper league right now where we use this system. We play two seasons a year. The first is based on cumulative record of the previous card set. The second season is aligned in order of finish in the first half. That way there is a chance for anybody to make the playoffs in the second season. Even the 4 worst teams since they will play most of their games against each other have a chance and will send one team to the playoffs at the least. I helps keep up interest among the less fortunate teams. One of the better teams usually wins the title, but sometimes a lesser team can sneak in and win a credit. Without that system their isn't much hope for the bottom few teams after the first season of the year. I'd like to have the system referred to in this post, but in lieu of that I'd rather have set division alignments than have them re-ordered in a random manner I think. At least that way you could build up rivalries and manage your roster with the other parks and players in your division in mind.
