LOL, Maybe he broke his bat over his knee and was bruised enough to miss three games! ;)

So, after the run on early SP pitching in the draft, I decided to go with a team that could hit in a pitcher's park with good D to protect the pitching. I believe even in Petco, I should be a pretty good offensive team.

The results after 9 games?
- We have as many unearned runs as the REST of the league (8 of 16 unearned runs)
- Despite being second in the league in average and middle of the pack in OB and Slugging, we're dead last in runs scored. :(

It's only 9 games so we're not *too* worried, but definitely not a great start. Also being 0-4 in one run games compounds the tough start.

Lots of ball to play however.

I think it is almost impossible to tell trends this early--even after 18 games it's questionable, you need some inter division games to get a real feel for your team--about 33-36 I reassess as the 41 game point approaches.

I kind of wish progressive drop penalties were at 54-108 games, busting the season into 3rds--especially the 54 game one--1/3 of the season. Leaving the next at 81 is OK.

If my HR trends stay the same I'm done already--giving up way more than I am hitting so far.

Oh yeah,9 games isn't nearly enough to tell anything. Last time, I'm pretty sure I was in last after 18 games and we ended up winning the division and 90+ games.

Dang, break up Deep in the Gap! They're 11-4!

Yeesh, the race could be over before it starts. Hoping to get at least one win in the next series. Sheesh.

I always feel like the beginning of the season is a more emotional time. Between crazy starts, bad starts, losing streaks etc. But it's all against the backdrop of a clean slate. It's much more rare that a manager notices precisely that his super slugger has gone 8 for 50 in mid-season. Or a 7 game losing streak has as much emotional weight.

Oh, for sure this is the case. Probably the only thing you really notice the same in both places is injuries.

Thought this might be interesting for everyone. How much did you spend and where?

OK, I won't swear that I got this completely right. There's a bit of guesswork at the beginning in who is playing where. Let me know if somethign doesn't look right for you.

Code: Select all
.......   Linup   Pit.   Bch   SPs..   RPs..   Tot
Big A..   43.6   31.7   4.6   19.9   11.9   79.93
Dale...   37.5   34.0   8.5   21.0   13.0   80.00
Hawk...   37.3   36.0   6.6   26.6   9.4   79.86
jeep...   45.2   28.7   6.1   16.6   12.2   79.97
JTJ....   48.0   27.5   4.5   19.6   7.9   79.98
KLX....   45.9   30.8   3.2   21.1   9.8   80.00
Miller.   43.7   32.0   4.1   20.4   11.6   79.83
Randal.   40.2   34.4   5.3   24.2   10.3   79.89
Semper.   37.3   34.7   7.8   19.5   15.2   79.85
Spider.   42.6   32.8   4.5   22.3   10.5   79.97
stoney.   44.5   32.6   2.9   20.9   11.7   79.91
toshiro   38.7   38.0   3.3   22.7   15.3   79.98

Average   42.1   32.8   5.1   21.2   11.6   79.93

Here's where you land in each category. A 1 means you spent the most on that category, a 12 the least.

Code: Select all
.......   Linup   Pit.   Bch   SPs..   RPs..
Big A..   6   9   6   9   5
Dale...   10   5   1   6   3
Hawk...   12   2   3   1   11
jeep...   3   11   4   12   4
JTJ....   1   12   8   10   12
KLX....   2   10   11   5   10
Miller.   5   8   9   8   7
Randal.   8   4   5   2   9
Semper.   11   3   2   11   2
Spider.   7   6   7   4   8
stoney.   4   7   12   7   6
toshiro   9   1   10   3   1

So, JTJ is 2 mil more than the next closest team (KLX with Jeep close behind) Hawk is last.
Toshiro is likewise in total pitching with 2 mill more than Hawk. JTJ is last.
Hawk, however, is 2 mil up on Randal in SPs and 4 mil more than Toshiro. Jeep is last.
Toshiro, obviously, has loaded up on the pen, but Semper is right there with him. Similarly, JTJ is last in the pen.
Dale has 8.5 mil on the bench with Semper at 7.8. Cheapest bench is Stoney with KLX and toshiro close behind.
