1969 Season - Woodie Held

PostTue Aug 10, 2021 1:43 pm

Woodie Held's card does not reflect his stats for the 1969 season.

All three of Held's HRs that season were off of right handed pitchers (Brabender, Earl Wilson and Palmer), and he had 43 Plate Appearances against RHP that season, so against RHP, he averaged a homerun in every 14 plate appearances. In the previous '69 season, Held would often be a starter against RHPs and be a leader in the number of HRs.

In his current card, he has an N rating against both LHP and RHP, and a home run reading in each column.

I have to admit that Held's use as a full time player was unrealistic in the previous '69 game.

So there are differences from the original 1969 set? How many.

It appears that 1969 has been updated for the super advanced version of the set released by SOM. For players like Held, they will often normalize the stats if he only has a few PA's and he has distortive results like a HR every 14 PA's when compared to his prior seasons.

I see several differences from the original 1969 online set.

Held, Hicks are no longer 25-30 homer guys on a platoon basis. There are new players added as well….
