7. Billy, You’re Fired: 1979-1985 - 307 hitters & 218 pitchers: 80M with DH

Just a reminder as to the period that we're restricted to (seven seasons!!).

Commish!! There is just one stadium (Royals '80) representing this time period. Plenty from 1978, though. I haven't counted, but my guess is that all twenty-six teams from the 1978 season are represented. Might I suggest that we be allowed to select from the '78 stadiums for this particular league, and then choose from the remaining stadiums (and any additional qualifying ones) for the last league?? 8-)

That's fine with me Ken, maybe you could nominate 12-14 for this round? Would be good before we draft. Another option is to open up all '78 stadiums to this round. Could use the same grouping next round too. Either way is fine w/ me, as long as we have a decent cross-section available.

Thanks!

Here is a listing of the 26 stadiums from the 1978 season along with Royals Stadium of 1980. My suggestions would be to select from this group of 27 stadiums. Any '78 stadiums that are left unchosen would then be used for the final league (there are a few '70 and '71 stadiums for the last league, but not that many).

imho i think that's too restrictive; isn't the relatively low cap and low roster of players restrictive enough that you would have to pigeon-hole them in a dozen stadiums or so? not to my liking at all.

I agree whole-heartedly with the COMMISH'S recommendation following.

They are a sad reflection of the cookie cutter ballparks of the day. No real advantages to be had except for one or two. Let's make ALL of the 1978 stadiums eligible for this league and the next league. Basically two owners will get a strong lefty/righty leaning park (Yankee/Fenway) and the rest are fairly balanced. A few others have subtle differences.

If a majority objects we can change this, but let's plan to use them all in the available pool. Thanks Ken!

Sounds OK to me. I still need to put a spreadsheet of players together, so I'll select as soon as I've done that.

If anyone is interested in getting a copy of my spreadsheet, please let me know. I should have everyone's e-mail. In addition, I would be happy to provide my spreadsheet with strikeouts throughout the course of the draft for those who are interested.
